I seem to have a real knack for finding unusual items that just defy the ability to locate information on them. Here’s another of those pieces….after an EXHAUSTIVE search of the Internet using SEVERAL search engines and NUMEROUS word combinations I was unable to find ANY information on this item and if it wasn’t sitting here in front of me I’d have to doubt it even existed!
While I know a whole lot about a whole lot of things, I have to admit I wasn’t aware that using Sandstone to make models was actually a hobby! Yet people do indeed make numerous things from it and there are kits occasionally available for hobbyists on the Internet.
Produced in London, England by Humatt Hobbies almost 20 years ago, this is an accessory pack of assorted extra pieces of SEVEN million year old sandstone (!) for those that need some replacement pieces for repair or extra detailing on a kit or model they have. There are various pieces with varying thicknesses included.
According to the package, it comes with a piece of sandpaper and “Hints” which I assume is suggestions of use…..geez, leave it to the Brits to be a bit cryptic!
Anyway, you won’t find another or anything even like it for sale on the Internet…of that I am SURE!
